My eyelashes are super straight and annoyingly sparse. According to a Google search this has something to do with the fact that I'm half asian, but who really knows. They tend to angle downwards meaning I need to do a lot of work with an eyelash curler to make them noticeable. This is what makes a mascara that curls so appealing to me, so I was the most excited when I found out that Benefit was releasing one.
I have been trying Benefit's Roller Lash mascara out for about a week and I am absolutely in LOVE with the concept; the idea of Roller Lash is to lift and curl lashes, without needing to use a curler. Essentially, if you are one of those people who are deathly afraid of using an eyelash curler in fear that they'll rip all of your eyelashes out, this might just be the product for you. Inspired by old-school velcro hair rollers, the curved mascara wand is meant to hook and lift your lashes, curling them upwards as you apply.
My first impression of this product is that the lash transformation is insane. Without any priming or eyelash curlers, my eyelashes were instantly longer and were actually curled! My eyes seemed more open and I looked noticeably more awake.
The application is effortless. The shape and length of the wand is perfect for grabbing every lash in one stroke, creating an even application. In my opinion this is also the best wand for applying mascara to your lower lashes (I always apply mascara to my lower lashes, so this is a huge plus for me). The three photos below are of my lashes after applying this mascara.
The wear time of Benefit's Roller Lash is incredible. I have worn it for 10+ hours a day for the past week. I've napped with it on, rubbed my eyes, etc. and I've experienced zero flaking or smudgy residue.
Sadly, the curl does not last very long on its own. I wasn't anticipating a ~miraculous~ curl that stayed flawless all day but it did disappear sooner than expected. For me, the curl dropped in about an hour and I had to resort to using my eyelash curler or applying more mascara (something I'm not particularly fond of). That being said, when I started using my eyelash curler with Roller Lash, I did find that my eyelashes stay curled longer in comparison to any other mascara I've used.

Overall, this mascara will definitely curl and lengthen your eyelashes, but I disagree with the claim that it takes away the need for eyelash curlers.
If you are blessed with less stubborn eyelashes than I have, the curling abilities of the mascara might last longer for you! I would definitely recommend trying it out, so take advantage of the stores and magazines that are providing free samples of this mascara this month.
